I really love this kit! I love the idea of being able to select what types of seed to put in both of my seven pod AeroGarden. Also, I must have Arugula, or at least two plants, one in each AeroGarden, since they really give a delicious and addictive natural flavor to my daily salad's. I have thought about purchasing another two kits of the Salad Lovers Seed Pot Kits, so I can make my selection, and making sure to add Arugula to each AeroGarden too. (Posted over a month ago)

I have had mixed results with this blend of salad greens. Unfortunately, i had 3 or 4 Arugula pods in 2 of my Custom Salad kits. I have had Arugula & Pear Salad w' Candied Walnuts & loved it. But every one of the Arugula pods that I have had I had to remove from my garden & throw out. The taste was/is offensive & it affected the other lettuces when left in the garden. I don't know how to describe it, but to say it smelled & tasted disgusting. I don't know how anyone could/would eat it- or even grown it!!
Also, I would recommend NOT filling more than 4 pods at 1 time. The faster growing ones (Romaine) choke out the slower growing ones.(Salad Greens) Unfortunately, the only way to know which types can or cannot be grown together is by trial & error. I've lost more than 4 Salad Green pods that were mixed with Romaine, & I lost Romaine when mixed with Mesculan. It's almost like playing Russian Roulette as to what grows & what gets choked out. Customer Service Response:
Hi Linda - Sorry the arugula had an offensive taste! Arugula is known to be bitter, but it does have lots of fans. As to the problems arising because of difference on growth rates: that can develop with almost all of our kits, and the answer is to prune or harvest enough of the faster growers to allow the slower ones to get their share of light..

I tried out this seed kit in my new AeroGarden Ultra and was disappointed that only 2 of the pods took off after the domes were removed, the rest looked sickly with leaves starting to dry up and die.

I'm now 21 days into the grow and the baby greens and romaine are doing great (they were the original 2 that I mentioned), The mizuna and mesculin mix are about a week or two behind but starting to grow more now - they both suffered some initial starter leaf loss from what look liked heat burn. The mustard and Arugula have barely grown more than an inch, both suffering leaf loss (turning white and dying) and the baby greens shriveled completely and died.

I have grown basil, thyme and dill without any issues and I keep my garden in a very cool area with a gentle fan to keep the temp down. I'm diligent with the nutrients (not to over or under feed) and my water is distilled so I don't know what went wrong.

I wouldn't recommend this for a first time grow - herbs seem to be much easier!

That which is growing is great and I can see how it will provide plenty of lettuce to harvest - just wish they were more consistent.

Overall I'm not too impressed with the performance of this seed kit but it does offer a great variety of lettuce. Maybe you'll have better luck with yours! (Posted over a month ago)
