Frequently Asked Questions

AeroGardens are designed to help you grow your own herbs, vegetables, salad greens or flowers at home. Our Seed Pod Kits are compatible with every model of AeroGarden. Planting with Seed Pods is fun and easy! Just insert the pre-seeded pods in your garden, add water, and the patented, specially formulated Liquid Nutrients. Most plants germinate within 7-14 days, are ready for harvesting in 4-6 weeks, and will keep producing continuous harvests for up to 6 months and longer. Indoor gardening can’t get any tastier or simpler!
Lettuce is one of the fastest-growing indoor crops and it's a staple. Who doesn't love to be healthy with delicious home-grown lettuce, or add a fresh leaf of romaine on their sandwich, or a salad of tasty arugula? And with AeroGarden, you can enjoy delicious Spring greens all throughout fall and winter! As a general rule, never prune more than ⅓ of any plant at once.
Different types of plants take different amounts of time to germinate and grow. In general, we’ve found these germination timeframes to be consistent:
  • Flowers take about 7-12 days
  • Salads: 5-8 days
  • Herbs: 5-15 days
  • Fruiting vegetables (such as tomatoes and peppers): 7-14 days

If any of your seed pods don’t germinate after 21 days, contact us so we can send out a replacement for you under our 100% germination guarantee.

After each planting, we recommend cleaning and sanitizing your AeroGarden for the best results.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Why Are The Leaves Browning I have seveal times tried to grow lavendar in my Aerogardens over the years. Each time after about a month the leaves start browning at the edges. When I research this I find that it is teh result of too much water and that Lavendar likes dry soil. How then is growing it hydroponically a thing? and if so, how come it has a cycle where it is getting so much water? For those of you growing this successfully what is your secret of keeping lavendar gry in a hydroponic garden and are you using a custom cycle of watering?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So lovely! I planted my lavender garden 58 days ago. At first, one pod was growing much slower than the others and I was worried it would eventually not get enough light. But I was wrong! That little one is now as big as the others! And they are looking like they are ready to bloom! I’m so excited!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mixed and matched flowers I actually mixed and matched my aero garden with a few different seeding pods. I split 3 lavender and 3 edible flower kits. So far everything is growing even though it’s mid-autumn! It’s nice to have flowers this time of year. The marigolds grew really fast and large, so some of the flowers had to catch up, the calendulas came out amazing as well as the snapdragons. The lavender is just about to bloom—can’t wait to make some holiday bath products with these!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Leaves smell great, can’t wait for the flowers. These guys take a long time to get going, but now they are taking off. I could use more instruction about pruning, drying and uses. It smells lovely and I can’t wait to see the flowers. One pod didn’t sprout.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Burns and dies under the light I was impressed with my first set of pods from Aerogarden, but disappointed with the lavender. The leaves kept burning and turning brown, despite me keeping up with the watering, plant food, and light maintenance schedule. The entire set of pods is like this, with most plants turning brown in parts and the flowers not blooming purple but instead turning brown and dusty. My thought is that the light is too bright for the flowers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lavender I planted my lavender 25 days ago. So far 5 of 6 are growing. The last one is showing no signs of life. I am disappointed that the one is not growing but I am excited to see the others growing. Can’t wait to see them blooming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lavender in a second grader class I used this as a classroom project. We planted it on the first day of school in September and we should see our first blooms this week. The second graders like watching it and touching it to get the smell on their hands.

Will this type of lavender plant survive single digit low temps in southeastern Colorado if transplanted in outside garden?

Asked by: Maxine
The Lavender seed pods need to be acclimated to being outdoors and receiving more direct sun. It is recommended that these plants be moved when temperatures are consistently above 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Lavender is a perennial, so it will come back every year.

Can these be transplanted into my garden? Is it difficult to remove the plants from the Aerogarden without damaging the roots?

Asked by: SueBee
You can transplant your lavender from your AeroGarden to soil. Remove the plant from AeroGarden. With heavy-duty scissors carefully cut the basket in half lengthwise and remove the pod from the roots. Place roots into a 4-inch peat pot, holding the top of pod level with the top of the pot. Gently drop soil around the roots, building up toward the top, so that when the last soil fills the pot, it is filling around the top of the pod.
