How do AeroGardens work?
AeroGardens are designed to help you grow your own herbs, vegetables, salad greens or flowers at home. Our Seed Pod Kits are compatible with every model of AeroGarden. Planting with Seed Pods is fun and easy! Just insert the pre-seeded pods in your garden, add water, and the patented, specially formulated Liquid Nutrients. Most plants germinate within 7-14 days, are ready for harvesting in 4-6 weeks, and will keep producing continuous harvests for up to 6 months and longer. Indoor gardening can’t get any tastier or simpler!
How do I prune Lettuce/Salads?
Lettuce is one of the fastest-growing indoor crops and it's a staple. Who doesn't love to be healthy with delicious home-grown lettuce, or add a fresh leaf of romaine on their sandwich, or a salad of tasty arugula? And with AeroGarden, you can enjoy delicious Spring greens all throughout fall and winter!
How long will it take my plants to germinate?
Different types of plants take different amounts of time to germinate and grow. In general, we’ve found these germination timeframes to be consistent:
- Flowers take about 7-12 days
- Salads: 5-8 days
- Herbs: 5-15 days
- Fruiting vegetables (such as tomatoes and peppers): 7-14 days
If any of your seed pods don’t germinate after 21 days, contact us so we can send out a replacement for you under our 100% germination guarantee.
How do I clean my AeroGarden before starting a new garden?
After each planting, we recommend cleaning and sanitizing your AeroGarden for the best results.

Nice Addition to Mixed Salads
As someone who didn't grow up with these greens I had no idea what to expect. Gotta say that this was well worth the $10 for some experimentation!
The Mizuna is a nice addition to a mixed salad. If you usually buy a spinach-arugula blend you'll like this.
The Shungiku looks like flat leaf parsley. It's a little bitter, but also bright and astringent. I wouldn't want a whole bowl of it, but it's a great mix-in alongside blander greens. I haven't tried yet, but apparently you can use it in stir fries, but the recipes say to add it last - like, after you take it off the heat for a quick mix-in of flavor.
Tatsoi reminded me of bok choy in flavor. I ended up cutting the leaves off the long stems and adding them as salad mix-ins. I also tried lightly wilting some in a soup and it was a nice addition.
You can google a ton of Japanese-American recipes using all three of these for inspiration. Or you can just be lazy (hi) and grow something new (to me) for sheer fun just to see what it is. This experiment was well worth my $10 and space in my Bounty. It's neat to have something new to look forward to when the days run together so drearily during quarantine. I've been delighted with these, and once I've Grown All The Things I'm sure they'll make it back into my permanent rotation.

Stayed small
I have had these in the system for about three weeks now and they are all still very small. There is gunk on the bottom of the pod (while inside the system) and the leaves are dying or turning a light color, rendering the leaves inedible. I hope they continue to grow, however I’m not certain the gunk is a good thing. Will keep watching them to see what happens. i added water today, even though the system says it’s full. The photos are pretty, but you can see that the leaves are beginning to die. Will update on a later day.

One tweak would help
These greens are robust and tasty, and they grow FAST. I did not give 5 stars only because the shungiku are so tiny and fragile compared to the other two that they really don't have a chance, even with rigorous pruning (read "eating") of the taller varieties. I think replacing the shungiku with something larger or, alternatively, replacing one of the super vigorous mizuna with something better behaved, would make this kit work better.

mixed success
The mizuna hasn't done well at all. Very few and small leaves. I don't like the taste of the shunjiku but it's growing well. I love the tatsoi and it's growing very well.

Not successful
Not happy with this. Both shungiku sprouted, turned brown and died. The tatsoi turns rusty. I liked the herbs but these failed

Slow Growing but robust once spruted
I have been working with my Japanese greens for about 2 months now and they are beautiful and flavorful. They did take a little while to start up, and I had an issue with the Tatsoi, but AG was kind enough to send me replacements and that plant has done so well.

Almost Perpetual Growth!
Surprisingly Amazing! All pods sprouted within 3 days. I prune constantly. They grow constantly. I'm on growth #6. The taste of each type is similar to a mild mustard green . I eat raw as a salad or saute in evoo and garlic. The best buy ever.

Not a favorite
Not my favorite..even though they are being watered as needed, the leaves have dried edges. I would not order these again unfortunately.
