Frequently Asked Questions

AeroGardens are designed to help you grow your own herbs, vegetables, salad greens or flowers at home. Our Seed Pod Kits are compatible with every model of AeroGarden. Planting with Seed Pods is fun and easy! Just insert the pre-seeded pods in your garden, add water, and the patented, specially formulated Liquid Nutrients. Most plants germinate within 7-14 days, are ready for harvesting in 4-6 weeks, and will keep producing continuous harvests for up to 6 months and longer. Indoor gardening can’t get any tastier or simpler!
Each of our Seed Pod Kits are tested for germination and expire one year after that date. To give you seeds the best chance to germinate, we recommend storing extra kits in a dark, cool, dry place. This will keep them cool and the seeds dormant until you’re ready to plant them in your AeroGarden. Some people store them in the vegetable drawer of their refrigerator in an airtight container or bag.
Fruiting vegetables, like tomatoes, peppers, and Fairy Tale eggplants, do require a little more attention and care than herbs, flowers, and salads.
The trellis is an accessory that helps support medium and tall plants, such as tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant. Help your plants grow taller by supporting them before they develop heavy fruit. We have trellis systems available for Bounty and Farm models. For smaller gardens, like the Sprout and Harvest, try bamboo sticks, chopsticks or our Soft Ties to support your plants. Stick them down inside the grow pods next to the stem. Plants will grow up leaning into them or you can tie gently to the support. Early support can keep plants from collapsing under the weight of the fruit (tragic if it happens just before harvest).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice plants These are the first jalapenos I've grown in my gardens and I am pleased. I actually intended to grow 6 jalapenos and 6 cayenne but as you can see I made a mistake ordering. I only was able to plant 3 and 9. These sprouted as AG said they would and are doing well 79 days in. Once my plants get this big I change up my fertilizer and I also add 2 grams of epsom salt per 2 gallons. I am just about to begin harvesting. As you can see I have 3 or 4 stunted jalapeno plants. I am not sure why

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Peppers! I had beautiful plants that produced tons of peppers for 9+ months! The only thing that stopped them was a pump failure that I didn’t catch in time. Beware though, these peppers are hotter than any store bought jalapeños I’ve found.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect These peppers are growing well. I have them in a 6 pod; 3 are empty, 1 is the jalapeno's, and the other 2 are basil. This picture was taken on day 234 - took a while but these are growing well, i followed the directions exactly. Not sure if I take off after i see the first one turn red or take off the vine now and wait for them to turn red (?) .

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a pepper fan! Have ordered pepper pods -- they may bloom but never produce. I use the required water and nutrients - grow light is in the right temperature of my home. Just no luck. NOW -- petunias, I order and grow just about year-round and they do beautifully in my home. Guess I need to stick with what I can do best with. Sorry about my negative review of peppers -- and even veggies in general. Don't know what I've done wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got me through the winter and was fun everyday In the winter of 2021 I purchased a jalapeño pod from the miracle grow website. With in two weeks the plant was large and thriving in the Aerogarden. Close to day 70 the plant had a few flowers. I grew tomatoes when I first received the hydroponic machine. The tomato grow had a tad of mold that I began to spray and yielded a handful of cherry tomatoes. I looked at the instructions and decided that the machine was perfect for another grow and I had a fun experience growing tomatoes. Jalapeño peppers seemed like a plant that I could experiment with before trying more varieties of herbs, vegetables, and flowers. Here are the new techniques that I tried and had a huge success with growing hydroponic jalapeños with a Aerogarden Sprout. 1.Clean the Aerogarden Sprout every month. Place the lid and plants on some paper towel and wash out the tub. 2. Take care of the plants every day. Place a small piece of towel in the top of the pod and this stops any growth of mold or mildew. Replace the towel every day. 3. Place a piece of rope in the front of the Aerogarden Basin and allow the rope to soak out water for an entire day. Then replace that rope with a new clean and dry rope everyday. 4.When the plant gets to be to large for the Aerogarden then place some rope on the stems. This helps to lower the stem without trimming and have a large plant that doesn’t touch the led lighting. 5. Poke a hole in the top of the food bottle. This helps to add drops of food to the water. I used 5 - 10 drops of food per day. 6.Use a permanent marker and create a new fill line that is towards the bottom. Fill the water level every day. 7. Purchase a tent that is for indoor growing of plants. My tent is in on top of a table in a biology room of a college.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never though I’d grow jalapeños in Alaska! I’m in Alaska and never thought I’d be able to grow jalapeños! I have 2 plants in my Bounty basic. One plant has grown faster than the other but that is working out because it’s keeps the peppers coming instead of ripe all at once. Right now, there are about a 6 peppers ready to harvest with over a dozen smaller growing. Tried one tonight, has a nice heat to it. I am very happy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So easy I decided I wanted to add some spice to my aero garden so I bought the jalepeño plant seed kit. It is so easy because you just pop it in the slot and wait. My jalepeño plant is about 2 feet tall and is flowering right now. In addition I transplanted it to dirt yesterday because it was growing too tall and I didn’t want to chop off the blossoms.

How big will let get? I had one already fall off, but it was only an inch long.

Asked by: Lighthouselady
Peppers do require a little more attention than an herb or salad greens garden, but can last significantly longer. When it comes to planting pepper pods in our AeroGardens, although it is possible to have all holes filled with veggie pods, for ease of use for customers, we generally suggest only planting a few at a time. This is because peppers require a lot of space, water, and plant food. If too many are planted, the amount of fruit to harvest may be lower. Overcrowded plants will have a harder time producing fruit. For more bountiful harvests, we recommend the following: Generally, Tomatoes and Peppers need more height than the 3-pod garden provides: 6-pod gardens: 2 pods of Tomatoes or Peppers. No Tall Garden Kits. 7 and 9 pod gardens: At most 4 pods of Tomatoes or Peppers. 2 pods of the Tall Garden Kits All Farm Models (12 pod): 4 pods of Tomatoes or Peppers. 3 pods of the Tall Garden Kits.
