Derek Reno, Master Mixologist of Columbus, Ohio's award-winning Echo Spirits Distilling Co. loves using fresh AeroGarden herbs in his cocktails! With AeroGarden and Echo Spirits' recent collaboration on the new Echo Spirits Top Shelf Cocktail Seed Pod Kit , Derek shared five creative cocktail recipes using the featured herbs included in the kit.
Be prepared to take up a seat before the master mixologist once again, as Derek shares two more expert cocktail recipes from the mind behind Columbus, Ohio's finest.
1. Jacob's Lace
Ingredients
- .75 oz Echo Spirits Straight Rye Whiskey
- .75 oz Cognac
- .75 oz Sweet/Rouge Vermouth
- 2 Teaspoons Benedictine Liqueur
- 2-3 dashes Aromatic Bitters
- 2 sprigs Irish Lace*
Instructions
-Combine all the ingredients in a stirring glass, including the Irish Lace. Add icd and stir thoroughly.
-Double strain into a double old fashioned Glass over fresh ice (a "large rock" is recommended).
-Express a lemon peel over the cocktail and discard. Garnish with a sprig of Irish Lace atop the ice.
*Stirring or shaking with a whole ingredient placed in with the ingredients is called a "Regal Stir". So in this case, the Irish Lace is a Regal Stir.
2. The Echo Mojito
Ingredients
- 2 oz Echo Spirits White Rum
- .5 oz Simple Syrup
- .75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 3-4 Mint Leaves
- Soda Water, to top
Instructions
-Combine the Simple Syrup, Lime, and Mint Leaves in a Shaker Set and lightly muddle the Mint. Add in the Rum.
-Top with ice and shake well. Double strain into a Collins Glass over fresh ice and top with Soda Water.
-Garnish with a bundle of Mint and a Lime Wheel.
