This kit was a hit with my husband, almost exclusively because of the mid-tier heat peppers-- Red Fire. It took the plants a long time to set fruit, but once they did, we had more peppers than we could use in normal cooking (some found other homes). We didn't use the tiny purple peppers, but the jalepenos and the red fire chilis were put into chili, stew, salsa, soups, etc. We also grilled a few to put on burgers. A warning to those who wear contacts-- the red fires must secrete some powerfully spicy oils... beware preparing them without gloves! I got this oil in my eyes multiple times (yes, I know, shame on me)-- it gets under the contacts and... oh, the pain. :) Just be careful... do some serious handwashing, or use precations so as not to spend 20 minutes in the bathroom crying and saying bad words as you try to remove your contacts before bed. #wordsofwisdom (Posted over a month ago)

We planted the purple super hots with some cherry tomatoes, the plants both grew well and produced a good amount of fruit. The purple super hots are about the size of a small grape and go from purple, to yellow-ish, to orange and on to an orange/red color. When we tasted them, we found that they had very little flavour and no more heat than a bell pepper. From the other comments I assume I got some sort of dud pod. Note, my tolerance for spice is fairly high, but my wife has trouble with jalape├▒os and she didn't find these spicy either. (Posted over a month ago)

I have only been growing this seed kit for about a month, but they sprouted within a week. I love the aerogarden product and it never fails. The only thing I didn't like about this kit is the new seed pod design, they are much longer than the original and harder to get into the aerogarden. Also, my box didn't come with any care instructions. (Posted over a month ago)

Just planted the peppers over month ago. Started my Aero Garden.....pump didn't work. I've had my Garden for over 2 years. The peppers took off and were growing even without the pump. My replacement pump came in a few weeks ago and man! they've doubled in size. I love my Aero Garden! I bought 1 for my parents and they use it all the time. I bought 2 more for my kids for Christmas. I made some adjustments since my first and last herb garden turned out to be a disaster. I don't know if the changes I made led to a better result this time, or the chilli seed kit is just better. When cleaning the pump, I noticed there's a dial from 1-5. It was set a 2. I changed it to 5 because I thought not enough water was getting to the herbs before. I also started using liquid fertilizers instead of the tablets. Much cleaner than those sticky tablets. They're never shipped dry! My chili kits are now healthier and bigger than my herb garden ever was, even using the old lights that came with my aerogarden. My only complaint: the chilli variety is limited so I decided to replace the seeds in 2 of the pods with my own Thai chilli seeds. Works great! (Posted over a month ago)

The first herb kit we grew was awesome, but this pepper kit not so much. So far only three pods are growing, one pod sprouted and died. Not sure what the deal is but we will just finish growing the plants that are living. Hope the fruit is good. (Posted over a month ago)

I recently purchased three differant seed kits and mixed and matched with my daugnters. The tomatos and peppers are just starting to flower and looking great. (Posted over a month ago)

My pepper plants are growing quickly since I planted them approximately 3-4 weeks ago, however I wish they fruited sooner, probably only my impatience! I'll keep posted on their progress, but so far, they look healthy and hearty. (Posted over a month ago)

The plants that have sprouted look beautiful and healthy. However, none of the red chili pepper plants have sprouted. I keep hoping that it's just a slow process and that they eventually will sprout. So far I have two of the purple chili plants and one jalapeno. That's just three out of six. (Posted over a month ago)

Too early to tell about taste but all the herbs and peppers have now germinated...the peppers being much slower to pop up compared to the herbs. I was a little concerned about the peppers at 1st but knew I could contact the company and get replacements if needed but patience paid off in the end:) It has been fun to see how quickly they start to flourish, even in the dead of winter in Montana;) Like I said, too early to know how they taste but I am looking forward to harvesting and taste testing... I'll let you know! (Posted over a month ago)

Two of the Chili pods didn't grow. Not sure if this is related to the lighting, watering or the pods themselves. The other 5 are growing well. We are looking forward to using these peppers soon. (Posted over a month ago)

I have 4 gardens and I love them! I will use the peppers to make jams for family. Christmas in July!!! I use the herbs daily for salads to take to work. The celantro and mint didn't last as long as the other herbs, however, but I couldn't use the other herbs up fast enough! The tomatoes produced so heavily that I had to use extra ties for the vines. I am ordering edible flowers next. That will "wow" EVERYBODY!! i LOVE YOUR GARDENS! I would love to share images if I knew how! It would convince everyone to try the gardens! This is my second harvest of Chili Peppers. I have to say that I am extremely excited!! The first harvest went well and the variety of hot peppers were welcome additions to many recipes. This is definitely a kit that I would use again and again! (Posted over a month ago)

The peppers were wonderful. The only problem I had was that they overtook my dining room. My solution was to remove them from the Aero Garden in the spring and move them out to the garden. The root system was pretty dense and I figured I had nothing to lose by chopping carefully to try to separate the plants. A couple of weeks after I transplanted them outside, I thought they had died but much to my surprise, there were new leaves and new flowers too. These plants are over a year old now and producing an overabundance of fantastic peppers. We love them. I wish I had done the same with my herbs when they were still growing. Review by Chili served here every week.
I agree with a few of the other reviews; I never harvested any jalapenos (in fact those pods were pulled and thrown out, leaving me with five plants). I would be happy if more of the red hot peppers were offered in place of the jalapenos. The harvest time is also a lot longer than advertised. I planted my peppers at the beginning of August and am now starting to see fantastic growth (in December). On the plus side, the red hots are much hotter than advertised, and the purples grow into super habanero strength. I am almost out of food to feed the plants though, where can I get more to keep this harvest going? (Posted over a month ago)

I have this split with another kit and the seedlings have sprouted a lot faster than expected. However, the purple peppers sprouted almost right away on thin shoots that overgrew and curled up within 2 days, and I took the dome off, which apparently the seedlings weren't able to survive. They died from being too thin a start. :( (Posted over a month ago)

The plants are still small, have not move up the light. This is our third planting and the front middle pod died the last two times. Also, the peppers seem fine, but the chives last order never grew to much. (Posted over a month ago)

I got my Aerogarden as a Xmas gift last year. I thought "what a crazy idea". Well this is one cool deal. First I did the herb garden & it grew for almost a year before I decided to try another combination. I planted the pods 1 week ago & they are all over 2" tall already! I can't wait for the peppers to come out so I can make some super spicy SALSA! Woohoo! I can't emphasize enough how cool this hydroponic garden is, it is so low maintenance & the plants grow easily. Did I mention, I love my Aerogarden? (Posted over a month ago)

The purple super hots and red fire hots are fine, but the Jalapenos did nothing. Maybe the seed pods should be all reds & purples and not waste space with the Jalapenos? (Posted over a month ago)

This is my first pepper planting and I'm now at the pruning stage. All the plants look good and I will follow the directions to hopefully produce healthy, fruitful plants. I have owned an Aerogarden since 2007 and now have 3 for salad greens, one for herbs and now one for peppers. It was very scary to prune my pepper plants but I did it and now I see the great results. I just ended my pepper garden after 8 months! It was still producing flowers and fruit and I think it might have gone on forever. Great peppers. You do have to trim a couple times a week - the plants grow so quickly. (Posted over a month ago)

The peppers plants grew extremely well--to the point that they overgrew the light source and are growing out and around the entire unit. I hesitated to pinch back as all the blossoms were on the ends, but after contacting customer service, found that this was what I should have done. I have been at this for 12 weeks(have been running 2-3 weeks behind the schedule in the manual)as peppers are just now starting to grow--none ripe. All of the peppers are outside of the light source. It has been an interesting learning curve. (Posted over a month ago)

The jalepeno pepper plants grew no fruit, however the others were very fruitful and HOT, HOT, HOT. We found lots of uses for them. Customer service tried to be helpful with some hints on getting the jalepeno plants to grow peppers but unfortunately it did not help.I will try again and hopefully get all plants to fruit. The Chili Pepper Seed Kit includes 3 types of hot peppers. As a fan of hot and spicy foods myself, I decided to "taste test" the three varieties using a cheese pizza as my pallet. All I can say is, these things are HOT. They go from HOT to REALLY HOT. If you like spicy foods their is nothing quite like fresh-picked hot peppers. (Posted over a month ago)
