Basil Salt

An Easy Herb Infused Flavored Salt

We are always trying to find new ways to use our abundant supply of Basil, and came across a blog on how to make Basil Salt. We gave it a try, and needless to say, this will be a new staple in many of our kitchens.

We made a small test batch with the trimmings of three Genovese Basil plants, and 1/4 cup of salt.

First blend your basil and fine as possible, then incorporate the salt. Once everything is an even size, spread it out onto a baking sheet and cook at 220 for 30 minutes, or until completely dry. You can also use a dehumidifier or let air dry for over 24 hours. When your salt mixture is completely dry, you may blend or use a mortar to break up the clumps.

We sell several varieties of Basil in our Seed Pod Kits, Genovese Basil is by far the most popular. Would you try this recipe?
