Introducing The AeroGarden Harvest

The 6-pod Harvest garden is our most popular countertop garden. It’s easy to use, has a sleek tailored shape and a small footprint to fit in any kitchen.

Frequently Asked Questions

AeroGardens are designed to help you grow your own herbs, vegetables, salad greens or flowers at home. Our Seed Pod Kits are compatible with every model of AeroGarden. Planting with Seed Pods is fun and easy! Just insert the pre-seeded pods in your garden, add water, and the patented, specially formulated Liquid Nutrients. Most plants germinate within 7-14 days, are ready for harvesting in 4-6 weeks, and will keep producing continuous harvests for up to 6 months and longer. Indoor gardening can’t get any tastier or simpler!

Pruning your herbs is important to keep them growing and healthy in your AeroGarden. You can start pruning when the plants are about 2 inches tall. We recommend only pruning about ⅓ of the plant at a time. When growing herbs, keep in mind basil usually sprouts within a week of planting, and grows rapidly. Be sure to prune your basil from the top as needed to keep the grow lights at the lowest position until all the herbs have a chance to catch up. Raising the grow light to accommodate the basil can slow or stop growth for other smaller, slower-growing herbs.

Yes, you can mix different types of plants in your AeroGarden to grow a variety of herbs, salad, veggies, and flowers if you’d like. If you are growing different plant types, it is important to prune the taller and bushier plants as they grow to allow plenty of space and light for the shorter and smaller plants.

After each planting, we recommend cleaning and sanitizing your AeroGarden for the best results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, amazingly fast! Got this a couple of weeks ago. I've wanted one FOREVER and was so happy, but didn't let my hopes get the best of me - I can't keep plants alive. At all. Ever. Easy set up with easy instructions and it was done and working its magic in 10 minutes. So imagine my excitement when just a few days later I had a sprout! Then another. Then another! While I thoroughly believe my morning affirmations to the little sprouts work, it's probably the awesome design and ease of use. It tells you when it needs water or nutrients (liquid, in a bottle). It's silent, except for a barely audible trickle sound every hour. You will not regret this purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right Amount for Kitchen We bought this as a Christmas gift for ourselves this year and love it. I have two sprouts, which are great as well, but this one is perfect for the kitchen. With 6 spots, I can diversify my fresh herb selection and the color choices worked well. We went with white since the teal didn't have enough green hue in the coloration. The picture provided is after 2 months- sorry it's not a recent photo. Hope you enjoy as much as we do! PS: we also use these to start seedlings for the summer garden. It's awesome. As a amateur gardener, it helps a lot to save on purchasing plants and for variety from Home Depot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Black thumb actually growing herbs The set up was extremely easy. A couple of the pods didn't pop in as easy as the others but I did get them in place. Just put in the pods, add the water and nutrients and turn on appropriate light setting. When setting the light, the start time is when you set it up. The only way to change that is to wait until the start time you want and reset. The lights are extremely bright, so I would suggest placing the garden somewhere they will not bother you. There are convenient indicators to notify when to add water and nutrients. No guessing. I planted my pods 4 days ago and the thyme, basil and dill are growing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Reliable! I have two Harvest models, an older one and this one. I use them side by side and have them going year-round - there are always more plants I want to grow than space on these models, but I think I would have the same problem if I covered my entire house with Aerogardens. I love that my old unit, which is maybe 3 years old, works just was well as my new one. I have had excellent results with herbs, lettuce and jalapeno peppers, as well as my own seeds (fairy eggplants are so small that I didn't even need to cut them back and 2 plants fit like a glove into this Aerogarden). I would highly recommend an Aerogarden to someone who wants fresh herbs available to them year round, and people who want to start seeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much Improved Over Older Models I've owned several AeroGardens over the past 10 years, and this is by far a greatly improved product over the old models with the fluorescent grow lights. First, the air pump is almost totally silent. The only sound you hear is an occasional gurgling of the water. Second, the new LED lights are very bright and will hopefully last for many years rather than having to replace them after a several months like the old grow lights. Lastly, the new display panel is a great addition. It's now so easy to see when it's time to add more nutrients, or when it needs water, and even shows the total days that have passed since planting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm still amazed at how wonderful this works. My husband purchased one for my Christmas present in 2016. We were so impressed that not only did I purchase another one for me, but I also gave one away for a Christmas present this year. I have shown my friends how great mine work (I have one growing herbs and one growing lettuces) and now 12 of my friends have a garden and are raving about theirs. I know 2 of these friends bought a second one for their children. I can't say enough about how great it is to cook with fresh herbs and pick fresh lettuce when it in 0 degrees outside. I just have to pull out clippers and cut away. I'm waiting to find an incredible deal and purchase another one!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works ss advertised....and a couple of tips. We have two. One with tomatoes and one with lettuce. They have been working very well. Vegetables growing well. It is really fun to have growing edibles on the kitchen counter. Tip: When plants are mature, you need to add water about every two days. ...so plan on that. If your plants look at all in distress ...change the water, as noted in the instructions. We waited about 8 weeks for first water change ...and it needed it. Tip: Pay attention to the advice in the instructions about pollination and pruning. We waited too long to prune the tomatoes, but they recovered just fine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from First experience not great I received garden for Christmas. I followed the directions on placement, watering, and nutrients as indicated by the clock. My initial garden had Dill, Thai Basil, Basil, Mint, Parsley and Thyme. The Dill and Basils did very well. They over powered the other three. Despite frequent pruning and cutting the thyme never bloomed.. The Mint bloomed one stalk then died. The Parsley has struggled to stay afloat. I removed the pods for the Thyme and Mint and now the Dill and the Basil are struggling. Would like to attempt again, as I got alot of dill and basil out of it before all started dying. Would really appreciate some help before making another investment

Questions

In the harvest can I grow lettuce and tomatoes together

Asked by: Peg55
You can mix different types of plants together if you prune them as needed to manage growth. Herbs, Flowers and Salads are easiest to mix and match together. Tomatoes/Peppers mixed with any other plants will provide more of a challenge, and in some cases should not be mixed. Herbs and Flowers offer the most variety and the greatest range of heights. Prune taller, faster-growing plants from the top to keep them an inch or two below the grow lights as they mature. This ensures that shorter, slower growing plants get the light they need to thrive. If you raise the grow light hood too soon just to accommodate the tall plants, the short plants will not receive enough light and could die off. Also, trim leaves and branches that encroach on the space of others to open up light to the entire garden. Some plants will never grow as tall or as stout as others, so just be sure they are all getting enough light to remain hearty and healthy. The rule of thumb is to prune no more than 1/3 of any plant at once, so just a snip here and there should do the trick. Salads/Lettuces usually sprout in about the same time frame and grow to about the same height, making it easy to grow different varieties together. They will require little or no pruning from the top, but individual leaves may need to be trimmed off at the base as they begin to crowd together. Tomatoes and Peppers are the most challenging to grow with other plants because they spread out substantially as they grow (thus the packaging of fewer seeded pods in some tomato/pepper kits). Other plants may not have enough space to grow once the tomatoes and peppers begin to mature. Also some of the tomato varieties that we offer will reach 24″ in height and are made for tall AeroGarden models only. These varieties should not be grown with other plants as the light hood would have to be raised to accommodate their height and the other smaller plants would not receive sufficient light.

I have an Aerogarden Harvest 6 pod unit. I cleaned out the spent pods but have since read that I may have discarded the filter. What does it look like, and where was it located. Can I buy a replacement?

Asked by: Momma
If you are unable to locate the pump filter to your Harvest, you can purchase them on the AeroGarden website (Accessories/All Accessories) or you may be able to order on Amazon.ca. Look for the AeroGarden Pump Filters for Pump model 200623.

What do you have to purchase after the first harvest?

Asked by: Jski
On average, the seed pods should last around 3-5 months as the plants will continue to grow over time till the end of their life cycle. Once they have ceased, be sure to clean the AeroGarden Harvest throughout and you are ready for a new set of seed pods to plant in the AeroGarden. You can find a wide variety of seed pod on our website AeroGarden.com to try!

how easy is is to transplant into dirt ?

Asked by: pantrypam
To transplant from the AeroGarden try these steps: 1)      Moisten some high-quality potting soil (get a really good soil from your garden center or a hydroponic store) 2)      Remove plant from AeroGarden 3)      With heavy duty scissors carefully cut the basket in half lengthwise and remove the pod from the roots. 4)      Place roots into a 4 inch peat pot, holding top of pod level with top of pot 5)      Gently drop in soil around the roots, building up toward the top, so that when the last soil fills the pot, it is filling around the top of the pod 6)      Press down around the pod, gently, so compress the soil around the pod and support the plant 7)      Add more soil if needed 8)      Place pot in a well lit, but not sunny location for one week, keeping soil evenly moist (bottom watering is best for this) 9)      After a week, move to a sunny location or under grow lights 10)   After another week, start hardening off to move outside.  Place plants on a shady porch, first for an hour a day, then gradually increasing as they “harden”.  After about a week, if weather permits (above freezing) you can transplant them into the ground or outdoor containers. 11)   You can skip steps 1-9 if you harden off the plants well in advance of transplanting, but steps 1-9 really help the plants adjust to soil
