I lived in Singapore & I get to know about Aero Garden through casual web browsing. The design is very appealing to me. I placed order at Amazon on 14 Feb and the item arrived at my doorstep on 21 Feb which is extremely fast considering I live halfway round the globe. The package arrived in perfect condition & I wasted no time setting it up.

The setup was a breeze and it was up & running within 30 mins with seed pods in, water filled & nutrient added. So far so good and it is working as promised. I'll update my review in a few weeks time when my plant start to grow.

Actually I'm running a big risk here as warrant for the machine & seed germination failure is not covered outside of US. So this is either a make or break for me. Being said there, this is the risk I'm willing to take as the temptation of starting my own hydroponic garden coupled with the ease of using this equipment and the sleekness of the design for outweighs the caution side of me.

We have one of the original Aerogarden 7's which is labelled as the Aerogarden Pro. Have had it for the better part of a decade. Other than one replacement pump [which was cheap and easy] and the usual bulb replacements, it still works perfectly. A quality product, will be buying another soon. Love the fact that this company doesn't walk away from its older products.
A fantastic product, not easy to find this kind of quality today. (Posted over a month ago)

I have had my "Aerogarden 7" for about 6 years now. My husband got it for me as a Christmas gift. I loved it when I first got it. I have to admit that the seed kits were a little expensive for me so I ended up putting it away for a several years. Then they came out with the tray that you could plant your own seeds. Love it! I started several of my veggies for the garden last spring with my Aerogarden. Right now it's December and we have a green bean plant that is growing fresh green beans for us. They taste so good. I am looking at purchasing a newer model so my little boy can take over the Aerogarden 7. Thanks for a great product. By the way..your customer service was great. :) (Posted over a month ago)

Got this in Sept of 2013 for my birthday, best gift EVER!! Herbs are so cute and nummy and fun! The basil has run amok, the dill is gorgeous, thyme is adorable, oregano is all legs with spunky wandering in mind, mint is a slow starter and fighting for light but a toughie and will probably come into his prime after the rest are done, slow and steady, deep green, healthy I'm not worried. Have already ordered the ultra to do tomatoes. Am addicted!! Too much fun! And yes, all my other little baby plants huddle around the base and are suddenly 'Happy', and so am I. I was very excited about this product because I live in a small NYC apartment that doesn't get enough natural light to ever successfully grow anything. I thought this seemed like a great solution.

Unfortunately, after I set it up I realized that the grow light is so unbelievably blinding when it is on 18or so hours a day that I cannot even stand to have it in my kitchen. Looking at it or even having it on gives me a migraine headache and makes my eyes hurt. I just called the company hoping they would produce some kind of curtain or something to help the situation and they do not. Not only that but the customer service representative was very rude and unhelpful.

Now I am stuck with a very expensive device that I cannot use. I don't understand how anyone can stand to have this in their home.

And, p.s., to top it off, 2out of the 5 seed pods are defective and will not grow anything. SUCH a WASTE!!!

Customer Service Response:
Michelle, I'm sorry you find the lights too bright, but the plants need that light to grow! I see that you called in and spoke to two of our agents, and one was able to help you by replacing the two seed pods that didn't germinate. Sometimes seeds don't sprout, but our germination guarantee covers you on that.

However, be careful when shopping Amazon for this item...they are passing off Classic 6's for 7's! The box says "7" but when you open it, the base says classic 6 and there is no circulating pump, it has the old air pump, so you don't get the benefit of fast germination because the water is not pumped up to the pods. I have 4 "classic 7's" in my home and I love them all!!! My grandson's pet turtle went CRAZY such fresh lettuce!! Bought him a 3 pod ladybug for his birthday! (Posted over a month ago)
Customer Service Response:
The 6 and 7 in the AeroGarden title refer to the number of holes in the Grow Deck. Any AeroGarden 7 you purchase, will have 7 planting holes in the grow deck. All AeroGarden 7's do now have the newer bubble technology (introduced about a year and a half after the water pump). In our tests, the bubble technology out performs the previous technology by up to 10%.

I live in the Alaskan Bush where fresh produce is at a premium so being able to grow my own greens is a huge relief! I purchased the AeroGarden 7 in August and my harvest of salad greens lasted until December! It turned out to be much cheaper than trying to buy fresh greens here from the store, not too mention convenient--who wants to trek to the store in -40 degrees when you can just have your own little garden indoors? Overall I am super pleased with my AeroGarden and have since purchased 2 more :) (Posted over a month ago)

I have had my Aero Garden 7 for several years and I just love it. When I need to pick my herbs I cut them and put them in an ice cube tray and add olive oil into each cube and put the tray in the freezer. When the herbs freeze I remove them from the ice tray and put them in a baggie and put it in the freezer. When I use them for cooking I just remove as many as I need and put them into my cooking pot. Freezing them in this manner keeps them fresh until I use them and I no longer use the herb keeper. (Posted over a month ago)

I like the AeroGro itself, but recently I ordered a couple of custom seed kits. They arrived with the wrong seeds packaged. I contacted AeroGro to let them know of the mixup. They acknowledged receiving my email, but never did anything to fix the issue. I have ordered non-custom kits without a problem over the years, so I don't recommend spending money on the custom kits. (There wasn't a place for me to review the custom kit on the custom herb kit page, so I went here instead.) (Posted over a month ago)

I purchased this for my Father for a Christmas present. We set it up and started off with the Cherry Tomato kit that I purchased for him as well. Two of the three seed pods sprouted within a week, the third was a little slower, but is now sprouting up as well. I spent over $200 on lights, distilled water, more nutrients, more seed packs but never got a lot of turnout, sorry. I'm a serious gardener and found that the plants were not substantial enough and the nutrient tablets not strong enough. I had some spindly, weak herbs and then a few flowers but that is all I got for all the time/expense. I now use as a grow light for my african violets. Customer service was top notch each time, replaced bad nutrient tablets without a problem but still not much success. Great concept however, (Posted over a month ago)

Hi Mgtisdale,

Hopefully you've tried our new (and vastly improved) liquid nutrients that now accompany all of our seed kits. They replaced our nutrient tablets quite some time ago and perform much better.

I was in college and this little guy was perfect for my dorm with the ease of use (no dirt, light timer, ease of seeding). Now it is even better in my apartment where it sits in my kitchen ready for use (well, once the new herbs are ready) to be thrown into all my dishes. We are Aerogarden junkies. We now have 22 aerogardens and are growing multiple varieties of tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, melons, ground cherries, huckleberries, and herbs. Last year I started strawberrie plants to transplant into 35 slots cut into 55 gallon drums (fabulous..just run a large pvc pipe down the center with cut holes for a self watering option), which are first year bearing as we were able to fool the strawberries into believing they were going through multiple seasons...this is another perk for using aerogarden. If you start them now and then transplant during the winter months and allow to go dormant in a protected cold but not lower than 25 F for a few weeks they will produce this next JUNE :) just feed them well! With 22 aerogardens...I am feeding 2 other families and mine with fresh tomatoes every day. Why am I not using larger aeroponic units? Because these give me more control over exact lighting and nutrients per every few plants and it allows for better rotation and maintanance. And, I can use solar panels easily on these low electric use items. Although I would be very interested in larger triple the growing possibilities in a single aerogarden unit. I cannot think of anything I do not like about aerogardens. (Posted over a month ago)

Who doesn't like to watch seeds sprout, right? These are great because they're IN YOUR HOUSE, so you can peek at them all the time, and watch their progress. Once they get going, the 3 kits I've had so far bloom for a very long time. An added benefit (one the manufacturers probably didn't intend) is that they work great as a light on a timer. Mine goes off at 1:30am, adding a level of security to the house when I've gone to sleep. Love that! (Posted over a month ago)

I purchased two of these gardens, one for tomatoes, and one for lettuce. I started them last december, and had lettuce about a month later that lasted for months all through the winter! The tomatoes took longer of course, but when they finally started producing I had fresh tomatoes twice a week for several months. The only note I have on growing tomatoes is that you really do need to prune the plant like they say to or it becomes a giant leggy mess...still produces alot, just looks strange...which was my fault since I could't bring myself to cut the plant back like they said to...next time I will! I am starting another batch this fall so I have fresh veggies again this winter! Great product! (Posted over a month ago)

I am new to Aerogarden, so new in fact that I have just set up my new Aerogarden 6 Elite. So while I have to leave the how great they grow reviews to others. I can however tell you what a well made thought out product it is. I have always been skeptical of internet items that I am not personally familiar with. So much so that I rely on reviews and background research and then email response from the seller. I must say that CJ far and exceeded answering my emails so much so that I felt very comfortable that the product would be of the highest standard and it has exceeded my expectations in quality and simplicity that from the novice to the green thumbers will have a great crop. So for those like me who doubt what we can't see, your sure to get your monies worth and quick informative responses, Thanks Aerogarden for the great product and for great personnel like CJ whose emails express that you'll be there from seed to harvest and any failure is never questioned but simply replaced, a great way to stand behind a product! Aero Gardens are awesome! We have had the classic for several years. It is not only a source for our herbs for wonderful scrumptious salads but for tons of stir fries and cooking needs. All provided "fresh" right in front of you to pick, whenever; even in the coldest days in Wis Midwest Winters! Yes, finally the pictures on-line and on the box "do grow to look like" what the picture on their advertising displays. The lighting provides a great source for a "light therapy" too for anyone suffering from SAD (season affective disorder; that is lack of sun in the winter months)! Just go close to the light for 30 seconds and "voila" your day starts off with a positive tone! And did I mention the beautiful tantalizing smells from the growing plants! You will save on health care too as the plants give much needed nutrients and the light therapy for the brain! Great product! Highly recommended! Minimal care and no, I do not secretly work for Aero Garden Co. Wish I did! K.H./Johnson Ck, WI (Posted over a month ago)

I bought this product in hopes of growing fresh romaine and other types of vegatables quickly and neatly indoors. I also have done several studies on hydroponics and thought that it would be somthing neat to try. Its amazing and fun to watch along with it being a learning experience. I am so glad I bought my aerogarden and I cant wait to try my romaine once it has matured! I like my areogarden so much Im actually going to buy a second to grow my salsa garden so I can grow more than one thing at a time. I am a person who usually kills the hardest plants to kill. I do not have any green in my thumb at all; however, I purchased my Aerogarden, and I have not killed any of my plants. It is so nice to have fresh herbs in the kitchen at all times. The Aerogarden gave me the confidence to try other plants like tomatoes, and even start other types of seeds, and then transplant them into an outside garden. I love my Aerogarden so much that I plan to purchase another one so that I can have a variety of plants going at the same time. This product would make a great gift for people who live in the city and love fresh herbs and vegtables but does not have room for a garden. It would also make a wonderful gift for Grandparents who are not able to maintain a regular garden. The Aerogarden is simple to use, the plants grow so quickly, and the growing season is extended for a longer period of time. Another great feature of the Aerogarden is that it does not use dirt, and because it is kept inside, I do not have to worry about bugs. The Areogarden has a reminder light that tells you when it is time to add water and minerals. This product has made growing plants fun. I can't wait to get my second one. (Posted over a month ago)

But I broke down, bought another, a black one, and set it up and am in love all over again. This model is so quiet that the first night I plugged it in, I thought that the pump wasn't working because I couldn't hear anything. I have 3 units, each a different model, and bought this unit with trellis to grow heirloom tomatoes indoors in our apartment. We have a large, enclosed, south facing patio filled with potted flowers in summer, but I want clean, fresh produce year round. Enough light spills over from the unit to grow near it miscellaneous low-light houseplants or forced bulbs like Amaryllis that have foliage that needs to be left on after blooms are spent. It makes our windowless utility room next to 2 bedrooms look more attractive. Adjusting the timing allows it to be a handy nightlight spilling into the hallway with bedrooms nearby. The trellis support system is very simple to install by loosening and re- tightening 4 Phillips screws in the rear of the lighting hood. The only thing I would change is to add the water level indicator like on the space saving corner model that gradually starts to flip from green to red when the water level is getting low. Aero units are so popular, I'd like to see the price lowered, especially for those of us with multiple units who would like to own more. (Posted over a month ago)

It grows really fast! Most of the herbs sprouted before they were supposed to. It's been 4 or 5 days already, and almost all the plants have grown a ton! It's a little messy putting in the water, but otherwise is great. The lights are also really bright, but it attracts no bugs! And the herbs smell really good. (Posted over a month ago)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the aerogarden! I have the opposite of a green thumb - a brown thumb I guess. The Aerogarden makes it easy and the feeling you get is so rewarding. When a recipe calls for a sprig of thyme or some basil I can just snip off some from my Aerogarden. It saves so much time and money. Herbs start growing quickly and then next thing you know there will be so much of it you will be giving hebs to friends. Last week I started the seedlings in the Garden Starter Tray for my out door garden and that has taken off like it's on steroids! Corn, Watermelon, peppers, tomatoes, moonflowers, chamomile and more. It's all growing and will be ready to be planted outside soon. I love the Aerogarden so much that I just bought the Extra Elite Aerogarden. I am addicted. (Posted over a month ago)

Since 1/4/2010 I have harvested 5 times from the same plants.(Herb garden). My friends and family have enjoyed the bounty. 14 days ago, I placed one melon seed in a pod and I now have melon vines growing across the counter. I hope the weather improves so I can transplant it soon. This has been the best "forever" gift I ever received. MTD (Posted over a month ago)

My wife bought one during x-mas that I set up the same weekend. I am a amateur hydroponist, and a bit of a DIY'er so I had already made a hydroponics unit of my own. I can definitely say that a commercial unit has it's advantages over homemade. They are: 1) the unit has dedicated hardware for timing the lights, 2)monitoring water level, and 3)all the nutrient dosage calculation is already done for you. The bad: 1)Miss the satisfaction of saying "I made this", 2)hard to maintain all plants at same growth level (I had a deluxe herb kit), 3) the seed pods are not easy to reuse- they gotta make money on something, 4)the expense of everything. All in all, a great buy. I'm going to try and modify mine to grow some seeds I have already (lettuce & cherry tomatoes- probably a bad combo together, but who cares). (Posted over a month ago)

I use this to grow the Heirloom Tomatoes. The only complaint I have is that the pump is VERY noisy. My computer is in the same room with it (and with my new Aerogarden Extra), and the noise from the Aerogarden Elite + is annoying. The Aerogarden Extra pump doesn't make any noise at all. What is the difference? If I ever get a fourth Aerogarden (I also own the Aerogarden 3), I would definitely get another Aerogarden Extra and not this one. (Posted over a month ago)

I bought two of these to give to my mother and mother-in-law for Christmas. Both are avid gardeners that live in Alaska. They loved being able to grow greens through the dark winter months. They also loved using the herbs in their cooking. Definitely the best feedback I ever got on a gift I've given. The lightbulbs in my mother's did not fit well. She emailed Aerogarden and they told her that it was under warranty and to just send it back for a replacement. Wonderful service. (Posted over a month ago)

I have been considering an AeroGarden for a long time and finally purchased two last month. I love them both! I have a seven-pod at home for herbs and a three-pod at work for flowers. We have very long, hard winters in Iowa, so this will be great to be able to grow things like herbs and veggies in the dead of winter. Additionally, the 3-pod garden is on my desk at work, so I benefit greatly from the extra-bright light just by sitting next to it. The units were very easy to set up and the plants sprouted quickly. My co-worker even bought two after she saw mine. (Posted over a month ago)

I am 16 years old and big into gardening and have even won awards for traditional gardening. When I first saw this product I wanted it in the worst way ever. My parents bought me one for Christmas two years ago and i havent stopped using it yet. I have it in my bedroom and love it. I have grown herbs, flowers, tomatoes and even some of my own custom things. It is very quite while it runs and the light is great because I never have to turn a light on in my room. Also it has helped me revive some tropicals that did'nt get enough light. I love getting fresh herbs, and vegies durring the winter and having beautfull displays of flowers in the summer. The product is a great way to brinh freshness to you cooking or a splash of color to a dull and boring room, or season. This was my first AeroGarden and I love it. It was easy to set up and start growing right out of the box. Instructions are clear and if you need help with setup or the plants, the customer support from AeroGrow is fantastic. The extra height on the extension arm and the 3rd bulb allows for growing more types of plans than the "standard" gardens. I, however, don't think that the Heirloom Tomato kit that came with the garden is a good seed kit for beginners. If you are new to hydroponics and this will be your first AeroGarden, you may want to start with growing something that's easier, like herbs or lettuce. Buy this unit for sure, but get an extra seed kit to ease you in. Tomatoes can be fickle. (Posted over a month ago)

I've had my AeroGarden 6 for just over a month, and have already had to raise the light twice; the tall herbs are growing by leaps and bounds and we can scarcely use them quickly enough. Our mint and chives are still coming along slowly, but look healthy. This is practically a set-it-and-forget-it appliance: I found myself wanting to fuss over it but had nothing to do; you just periodically add distilled water and nutrient tablets as you are signaled to do and the Aerogarden does everything else. But having the full-spectrum bulbs and growing plants in my north-facing kitchen is particularly cheering in midwinter, and the surrounding plants love it too- a dormant orchid has rebloomed with many flowers and my once-scraggly rosemary topiary is now lush and full, just sitting on the same shelf as the Aerogarden- amazing transformations in a relatively short time. If I can find some more shelf space I would love to get another Aerogarden for flowers or tomatoes. It may seem like a novelty item, but if you cook regularly with fresh herbs (or enjoy adding them to teas and salads), this is a nice appliance to have- I believe in the long run it will save money over the little $3 packages of herbs at the grocery that go bad after a few days in the refrigerator. Heck I love these machines. I have 3 set up in my house right now. The herbs are nice, but the real selling point is the salad kits. They provide salad everday for a family of four for about 5 months. I set up a self and use the spaces between the machines to grow other plants in my house. If there is a negative I would have to say its hard to keep up with the plants. They grow so fast you have to keep cutting them down before they reach the lights. (Posted over a month ago)

While the black VeggiePro isn't as classy looking as the Aerogarden6 White, it does have the advantage of being able to raise the light up higher, allowing bigger plants. The produce available in Northeastern Wyoming grocery stores leaves alot to be desired, and I can't wait to enjoy freshly picked, home grown, herbs and vegetables. I use it to grow lettuce during the winter, and to start my seeds for the garden in the spring. So easy to use, and doesn't take up a lot of space. I even use it to keep my tropicals alive for the winter by putting them nearby. I just bought a second one for herbs, and hope to get a third soon with the wall shelf! For the eco-minded, there's no need for pesticides, and no fertilizers released into the environment! (Posted over a month ago)

I was given the Aero3 as a Christmas by my Mom, for my Bhut Jolokia pepper plants (Ghost Peppers). Every year I'll use 10-12 half egg shells in my window as starters for my pepper plants hoping 2 or 3 make it, because of the difficulty in growing them. By the time I got the Aero3 I already had 2 plants at about 2.5-3 inches and in pots, so I was going to use the Aero3 simply for the light fixture. I had forgotten that I dumped the soil from the other eggs in the pots with the two plants. Within two weeks I went from having 2 plants growing to 6. I just transferred 3 of the seedlings to the sponge setup as the unit was intended to be used and they are doing awesome. I've been able to grow 3 times the amount, as I usually get in years past, with a much quicker growth rate. Great product especially for difficult plants that need a lot of attention and care. Will be buying a second unit within the next day or two, probably upgrading to the Aero6. (Posted over a month ago)

I considered buying an AreoGarden for years before I actually purchased one. After one AreoGarden I was hooked. Two years later I just bought my third for personal use. I have also bought several as gifts. I recently purchased the tower so now I have three gardens going, salsa, herbs and salad greens. It is great to watch the progress and then enjoy the harvest. Easy to use and set up, it really beats a "real" garden outdoors. My first outdoor garden was destroyed by a hail storm--AeroGarden has no such problem. It is important to change the grow lights on a regular basis--six months is the life expectancy. I did not know that until I bought my second garden. The Garden really works. Fresh herbs add a bang to any dish. (Posted over a month ago)

I love, love, love the aerogarden. I live in the woods and do not have enough natural light to grow my own herbs outside. My 8 & 10 year olds enjoy watching the plants grow and I have gotten them to try lots of new foods since we cook with the herbs we grow. I've also grown the salad greens and gotten my picky eaters to learn to like salads!! The only negative aspect for me is the purchasing of bottled water for the garden. I have a very high iron content to my well water and am afraid the sediment would ruin the pump. I've had my garden over a year and this year I purchased 3 of the small 3 pod gardens and one classic as Christmas presents. I will most likely use aerogardens as gifts again this coming year. I have 2 of the originals, bought 3 space savers for my grown kids and brother and just purchased the deluxe for myself for veggie growing. Super easy to set up and use. I had problems with the water indicator light sticking...so I ran dry without knowing it...as a result I fried my pump...the company was great and sent me a new pump and indicator part no charge. I wouldn't bother with the cherry tomatoes unless you have an extended hood. The grow lights dim after 6 months or so...I didn't realize it until I got a new unit and saw the difference...so if you're not getting good results it may be the lights need changing. I'm not a fan of mixed crops as some seeds take off sooner and bully out the other plants (like basil). I loved the hot pepper crop, even with the basil which I started later. All the lettuce crops grow great and my favorite is the romaine. You need to continuously prune the larger plants in the mixed crops...actually I find pruning all but the lettuces necessary. If you don't used distilled water you should check your water supply regularly and dont depend on the indicator light as deposits can build up and freeze the indicator sleeve inside. All in all it's a great unit[...]. Highly recommended. (Posted over a month ago)

Central Minnesota is very cold, and fresh herbs are expensive when they are available. I got this as a gift, and I began my herbs right after the holiday season. I had fresh herbs for cooking and salads all spring. I have reordered, but my mix was a little different; chives grow well in a pot in a window, and dill is a bit too tall. Dried dill and thyme are very good, so I ordered lots of basil, calantro, and Italian parsley for my salads and cooking this spring. (Posted over a month ago)

Herbs are not cheap, but readily available at the supermarket. So, why would anyone want to grow his/her own herbs? You just have to taste the difference -- in your food preparation, in your cooking, in your dining. Plus there's the satisfaction of growing and harvesting your own food. It is a bit of a nuisance setting up or cleaning for successive harvests -- but it's still well worth it. (Posted over a month ago)

My first crop of herbs was amazing! After planting I watched each day for the seeds to sprout. Each pod gave an estimated sprout time, and each one was dead on. From there, my herb garden seemed to grow in leaps and bounds. Every meal I have prepared contained aromatic fresh herbs. My family is spoiled! My next crop - cherry tomatoes! Can't wait. My husband and Granddaughter bought this for me for Mother's Day this year. Even though the plants are just beginning to come out, took two domes off this afternoon, BUT it has been so much fun to watch and HOPE it does what it says it will do and so far it has done exactly what it says it will do. I just love it. They could not have gotten me anything BETTER. I wanted one of these for quite awhile, but I would not order it for myself, so they got it for me and I did not know they were getting it for me either. I was so shocked and happy and I still am. I tell everyone about it and how much I love it. Now I will write another when they are growing better but I LOVE IT and anyone that is "thinking" about getting one. GET IT! You want be dissappointed. (Posted over a month ago)

Oh I love the Aerogarden! What a wonderful and easy product to use. My Aerogarden was an early gift from my boyfriend and our children for Mother's day. I received it just over two weeks ago and I really cannot believe how much everything has grown in such a short time! I have the gourment herb kit, and every herb but one has sprouted. I figure its just a bum pod and probably doesn't happen very often, so it doesn't bother me all that much. The kit actually came with two different basils and the italian basil didn't sprout, so I at least get to try the purple basil. Not having a pod sprout is the only problem I have had. Everything else is perfectly fine, and the best part is that it doesn't require a whole lot of work. It was so easy to set up and get going. And not only do I find it cool to see how fast the herbs are growing, but so do my kids! Both of my boys love to help in the kitchen, and this is just peaking their interest even more. I really only have great things to say about this product and I recommend it to anyone who wants fresh herbs, veggies, or flowers. So far I have only done the herbs, but I know I will be trying the other kits you can get because of the ease of use and the convenience of having fresh foods right at home instead of getting it from the store. Absolutely great product! (Posted over a month ago)

I love, love, love my AeroGardens. It is amazing how fast everything germinates and grows. I bought the 6 pod space saver first, next I bought 2 AeroGarden Classics and last night I ordered a 3 pod Aerogarden. When I pass my Aerogardens in the morning I look at the pods and within a couple of hours I notice new growth! I have vegetables growing outside in the summer and I am so excited because now I can grow salad greans, herbs and vegetables all year long! (Posted over a month ago)

I suck at gardening. I mean I am REALLY bad at it. I forget to water, I forget to feed, and weeding? Bah! Who has the time? With all that in mind, I LOVE my Aero Garden! No weeds? This product is great, particularly throughout the winter months, when very little will grow outdoors, even under greenhouse cloth. To be able to have fresh herbs, in plentiful supply, all year long is a joy. I even got my boss to buy one. You do have to be patient and not begin culling extensively too soon. But once the plants are big enough for harvesting (for me, only around 4-5 weeks!) you an barely keep up with the growth! Excellent product. Have already recommended it to many others and will continue to do so. (Posted over a month ago)

I received my Aero Garden as an early Mothers Day gift from my Mom. I had mentioned to her how much I loved fresh herbs and wanted to start my own herb garden. I can't stand buying over priced, packaged herbs from the grocery store, only to have to throw them away a day or two after I get them! I have to comment first on how incredibly easy the set up was. Anyone can do it! The instructions are very clear and very straight forward. You don't need any special tools or a degree in structural engineering to put it together. LOL! I just started my herbs today so I'm looking forward to seeing how they do over the coarse of the next month. My only concern is that it is highly recommended that you NOT use well water or softened water. I live in the country and all I have access to is well water. I do however have a hard water tap, so I used that and I'm hoping for the best. If it doesn't work out I guess I will have to buy distilled water at the store. But so far, that's the only negative that I can forsee. From what I can tell so far, this is the perfect product for those who love fresh herbs, veggies and flowers! Especailly for those of us who live in cooler climates. This makes having fresh herbs and veggies anytime of year a snap. (Posted over a month ago)

My basil is growing wild! We have to eat faster! I get enough herbs to use on a daily basis from all of the plants. It's a neat looking unit - a conversation starter. Everyone who sees it comments on it. I like to chop some off every day and eat it on top of whatever we have that day. Herbs are great antioxidants. And I like that I can grow my own herbs in Fairbanks, Alaska when it's minus 60 degrees below zero and the sun is gone for months! (Posted over a month ago)

I think its a great gift for anyone that enjoys cooking, and it really does work believe me it does, you barely have to do anything to make your plants grow. Only thing I would wish for is a longer telescoping light my basil grows to much and too quickly, but its okay I just get use basil frivolously... Buy It Trust Me Its Worth It! The ongoing inconstancy in food safety along with cutting costs and a want for minimal time brought my researching to this product. (hate bugs too!) Herbs were easy, tablets every 2 weeks and snipping the plants 1 or 2 times a week! Salad mix unbelievably the same! Customer Service has been REMARKABLE in answering questions or needs I may have had. I feel very confident, safe and am enjoying HEALTHY tasting and looking results. Quality product!Moving up the gardening ladder to growing Romaine lettuce next. Tomatoes may follow. Asked for this at Christmas and bought one myself the following month.FYI: The skeptic in me bought herb seeds, planted in terra cotta pots along side the aerogardens to compare the difference. Results were: weak, slow growing, high maintenance unrewarding results even with plant food. Fluctuations strong if not attended to daily. After 3 months they have still not reached height nor sturdiness of aerogarden plants in just a few weeks. Hope this helps. (Posted over a month ago)

One complaint is the chives were think and we grew thick ones over the summer so wish were larger variety. But, everything was great. We are purchasing more pods now to start the next items we want to grow. It would be great if you could choose to buy individual seed pods instead of kits.. pick your pods per say. The most difficult thing about the aerogarden is taking it out of the box! I am one of those that moves a lot. I would have saved the packing if I had any thought I could repackage this item for moving but I highly doubt it can be done. This I consider a marvel as it shows us the consumer that there is great attention to detail. This sucker is really packed well-lol!Admittedly, there have been minor problems (real ones) with it. These are immediately resolved either by looking at the booklet that comes with each and every kit or, by calling customer service. The customer service representatives are incredibly knowledgable not only about the unit itself, but about growing in general. They have helped me immensely through the years I have owned this unit.I do grow things outside on my small deck during the growing season and some of those plants begin life in my aerogarden. I always use my aerogarden to supplement during the growing season so it is never 'off'. It is essential to me during the seasons that growing is impossible outdoors. I would recommend this product for anyone considering it. (Posted over a month ago)

I love fresh herbs in my cooking but hate to buy packages at the store and throw 90% away. Using Aerogarden allows me to use only what I need at the time and keep the rest fresh and on the stalk until I need it. It's very difficult for me to grow my own herbs outside in the garden due to the hot climate here in lower Alabama. The only way would be in a small window unit with messy dirt and a lot of fuss. There is no fuss with the Aerogarden! Salads rot in the bag because I can't eat all of it in time. With Aerogarden I can trim just enough greens to make a small salad and keep the rest fresh in the garden for the next salad. It's the most wonderful invention for a single person I've ever seen. Again, in lower Alabama growing lettuce is a laugh. It can burn up in a day with this weather. And even if it isn't burned, it's big and tough! The Aerogarden keeps everything sweet and tender. Because it was was getting me up at night if you are a person has to have it dark then do this. when you are starting for the first time or. another set of what ever you are growing set the time to start growing at 7 AM it will grow 16 hours then the light will go off at 11PM so you can sleep then it will start 8 hrs later at 7 AM again. If you are growing Tomato they needs time to sleep and it well sleep 8 hrs. And if I didnt say, I do have 2 AreoGradens one is the Space sever 6 as well. And no you do not need a green thumb. After a lifetime in California it was a real hardship when we moved and could only grow herbs during the spring and summer. The winter freeze killed everything off our first year here in the high desert region. The aerogarden allowed me to get back to cooking with fresh herbs year round. I adore this device. I found out how indispensible it is when I cleaned it up in preparation to use the seed starter kit so that when the winter frosts are over I will have a head start planting my lavender outdoors. One week without fresh herbs and I purchased my second aero garden so I can get another herb kit started pronto. I'm sure I could live without it but I don't ever want to try. I received my AeroGrow a few years ago, for Christmas. I love it! I was so spoiled living in California all my life, that when I had to move the Pacific Northwest, I experienced major fresh veggie withdrawals! They only have farmers markets up here for a few months out of the year. The AeroGrow has kept me supplied with fresh salad greens, herbs, and other goodies, during those gray months when nothing grown in America is available. I've been into the idea of eating local food, and you can't get much more local than your own kitchen! The unit is very easy to use, and so much fun to have around the house. It's very quiet and unobtrusive. There is nothing I'd do to improve it, except maybe see if they would develop "skins" for the unit when I tire of the color. (Posted over a month ago)

Super easy to set up and it does it all itself. This model has more "idiot" lights on it than the space saver so I opted for this one and just love it. I live in a house that doesn't have good light for growing indoor plants, and with no space for an outdoor garden, and I've really missed watching things grow and harvesting my own herbs for my table. The set up was simple, and it fits nicely on my dining room counter. The seeds have practically jumped out of the pods, they're growing so fast...you can almost see the plants growing hour by hour. I like being able to set the time for the lights to go off each night, and I especially like the reminder lights for water and nutrients. My only complaint was that one of the bulbs blew out right away[...]. I can't wait to start harvesting my herbs! It's awesome to have fresh, home-grown herbs in January in Philadelphia!I recommend Aerogardens to people who cook on a regular basis. It's worthwhile to harvest herbs right from in my home rather than go out to the store and get herbs that have been shipped all over creation. I also recommend this to people with kids because it could be a great educational opportunity (not only for the plant growth, but how to use the herbs for cooking). Good product. We enjoy it. I bought my first garden last month as a Christmas present to me from my husband. I have tried to grow herbs and vegtables for years but I have a dark brown thumb! Never would ever grow. My basil from my first is already growing larger in 2 weeks then anything I have tried to grow inside or outside before. My kitchen is now full of sunlight which I love with our long winters. I love it so much that I just went out and bought another. I am going to save the herb kit that came with it and have just ordered the large salad greens seed kit. If that does half as well as my herbs are doing I will be very happy. So now I will have both herbs and salad greens and even more sunlight. If you get the winter blahs, buy a garden. I only have one of these little beauties, but I forsee a tower of them in the corner of my dining room in the future! I bought the aerogarden because I love to attract the hummingbirds to my yard. The best way to assure that I have my share of these angelic creatures is to have an early flowering paradise to attract them as they migrate up from farther south in the early spring. Last year, I planted seedlings, kept them under a warm light in my shed, protected somewhat from the winter cold, but found that I just didn't have room to handle a big bulky try of seedlings and besides, when spring came, they still weren't ready to bloom! I planted my little seedlings in my flower beds and had to use a magnifying glass to find them. I don't think it helped the hummers a bit. This year, I planted my seedlings in the warmth of my dining room in late December (I didn't have to walk outside in the cold to my shed to tend to them). The seed packets said "14-21 day germination" Unbelievable - mine were sprouted in THREE days!!! It's been four weeks and some are actually ready to be transplanted to pots and will undoubtedly be much more substantial than my results the previous year. The problem now - I'm having to wait to plant my herbs and my tomatoes until I get my seedlings finished . . . need more aerogardens! (Posted over a month ago)

Our First grade class was so fascinated last year watching their Aerogrow herbs that we ordered one for the Second grade classroom. They have just set it up and already it is the first thing the students check each morning when they arrive at school. The teachers are able to relate the growth cycle to their science curriculum and our kitchen uses the herbs in the hot lunches they prepare onsite daily. (Posted over a month ago)

My plants have taken a little while to flourish. I think they would have been faster to grow and a little more healthy had the user manual and troubleshooting section discussed the signs of water that has a too high mineral content. I live very close to Dallas and am on city water, but apparently the mineral content is still too high as my seedlings turned yellow at the end of the 1st month. Luckily, an email arrived from Aerogarden that mentioned this could be caused by the water. Now I'm using distilled water that I buy at the store. During the spring, summer and fall I will be using rainwater. So hopefully this problem doesn't occur again. This didn't happen when I planted flowers only when I planted herbs. But I still love the product because now I am actively using herbs in my cooking. I'll look at my plants and think they need trimming so I figure a way to use them in the meal that evening. *smiles* As a result my family is eating a little more healthy and I'm cooking more. A win-win situation! (Posted over a month ago)

I'm a vegetarian that prefers to eat as clean as possible, but I don't like buying "organic" fruits/vegetables in the store as they don't look very good.I do love many varieties of fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs to use in cooking, so I can keep my foods flavorful yet salt free as I never use salt. I'm looking forward to using the herb kit to grow fresh herbs in my kitchen to use in my cooking. I honestly think this is one of the best tools any kitchen should have to be able to grow fresh tomatoes and lettuce, and herbs as I live in the Northeast US and by September, these items are out of season, and in the grocery stores, they look terrible as they have to be shipped in. It's also great to start spring gardens and get a head start on your outdoor garden. (Posted over a month ago)

I have been wanting to start my outside gardening again, but hesitated because of all the manual labor. I bought the Aerogarden and was estatic. It is great. I rather use this than tilling dirt. I pinch the growing herbs and eat it right off the setup, stems and all. It so delicious and tender. I cannot wait to purchase more Aerogardens. However, my mint, which was on the end was a slow grower until I rearranged it with my italian basil to help it grow faster. When it got taller I rearranged it back. I do not know why it did not grow because all of the other herbs were growning beautifully. (Posted over a month ago)

As soon as I got this, the first thing I started to grow was the salad greens kit that came with it. I was shocked to find them immediately sprouting in about 3 days! I didn't have a very green thumb before I got the aerogarden... now I can grow anything!!! So far I have grown the salad greens, and a variety of flowers when I don't feel like planting veggies. It's really great, and all of my friends are so enthused when they see it in my apt. The only bad thing about this I can think of is the calcium buildup/deposits from the water. It didn't happen with the greens, but when I grew my own flowers (using the master gardening kit) there was a lot of buildup around the unused holes. I think it's because I should have covered the unused holes. It caused annoying cleanup just about every day, but I think the next time I grow something I will buy those covers for it. Hours of labor and many dollars used to blow away in the wind. Problem solved. Aero Garden thrives on our counter--herbs galore-the invention works and the dog can't reach it. Food tastes great and looks wonderful with a fresh herb or two on top for presentation. We've turned our former herb garden into a mini park for the pet and we all live happily forever!!! I ordered 3 kits for my homeschooled son's biology study. We were so excited when they came, we planted them right away. My son loved checking on them several times a day to see how fast they grew. He is funny because he gives them a pep talk every day, telling them how pretty they are, how fast they are growing, and how much he appreciates them. The salad kit sprouted in a couple of days, but died a few days later. I called customer service and got a new kit quickly. She suggested using distilled water instead of tap water. That worked great. Makes you wonder what's in the tap water. We had fresh salads every other day for months. My other son picked leaves off as he watched TV. Beats snacking on potato chips! Some of the herbs did not sprout in our first kit, so he was disappointed by that. The second is doing great, however. I love my arugula kit. I can't keep my hands off. Every time I go past, I snip a few leaves to chew on. They needed distilled water, too at first. Once they were established, the tap water works just fine. When my daughter was here for the holidays, she and her hubby fell in love with the system. They took one home with them. Now, I am hoping Santa will bring me another one - maybe the Pro 200? I'm not using my herbs for cooking at the present time but I make a plaque in which I need impressions of leaves and such in a product I make. Living in an area where greens are frosted off after September 15th and spring doesn't return until June ... I'd have to resort to buying herbs each week from the grocer, or what ever I can make do. This works great plus it's fun watching the plants grow. Doing much better than I thought they would. It's also created an egolical system in that we have these little ladybug like bugs that were planted in our area to take care of another not so nice bug however a few have found their way into my home this fall as is the norm ... and guess what they like ... the Aerogrow garden too! That I don't appreciate to much, so they are captured and released again outside since they are a good bug! Over all I LOVE IT! Plan on getting a flower garden next and also a gift for my grandchilden who are into growing things big time. This will be great for them. (Posted over a month ago)

In the spring, we replaced the herbs with cascading petunias that filled the kitchen with color. Tonight, we replanted it with herbs again, and I thanked my husband again for the gift. We have very very short growing seasons here. I am loving the fact that I have fresh lettuce for my lunch sandwiches every day. The real treat for me will be trying the seed starting kit. I have wanted to grow watermelons for a few years now but our growing season is too short and melons turn out stunted and frequently never ripen. The other problem with a short season is that just when plants are starting to look their best, it snows and they die. I want to get my garden started early this coming spring and have them well on their way before planting outside. I just ordered the romaine kit and excited to have this growing during the winter!! I was amazed at how fast my salad greens kit grew. They were all germinating in 48 hours and all 7 pods are producing a plenty! I'm looking forward to the romaine doing the same. Having the 3 gardens allows me to grow herbs, lettuce, and veggies all at the same time. The unit is a wonderful conversation piece. Everyone who comes to our house comments on it. We are eating so much healthier now. I strongly recommend not just buying one aerogarden, but the full wall garden. Trust me, if you buy only one, you are quickly going to be wishing you had another. It's a great bargain when you buy the 3 together and the shelf allows you to keep your kitchen counter space. I have always wanted an outdoor garden, but just have not had the time for much more than a few herbs. These gardens are so easy to take care of. I have no problems keeping up with them. Very easy to use. I only wish that when you first order it, the free set of pods were ones that you could choose (instead of the default herbs of which I only tended to use 3 out of the 7). I liked the fact that you specify which types of plants you are trying to grow to personalize water and lighting needs but that does limit you on the ability to mix things like salad greens with herbs in your garden. I ended up having to buy an Aero3 to grow my herbs and took out the herbs from my Aero7 to replace it with salad greens. Although I have a big countertop, I did find that it took up quite a bit of space so for those with smaller counters (or pets that jump on counters to get to your plants), I would recommend a stand. These grow so quickly and so abundantly that I give clippings as gifts and get rave reviews!!Only the tomato plants are more complicated, If you don't read the instructions and don't manually pollinate the plants correctly they die off. Herbs are the best, you save more, and they grow like weeds!! (but good ones you can eat!) (Posted over a month ago)

We recieved a garden for Chistmas two years ago and immediately purchased a second one. We have been very pleased with the items that we have planted to give us a touch of springtime during the cold winter months. One of our favorites was the package of roses that we enjoyed this past winter. When it was warm enough we put them on the patio in a planter and still enjoy them. We currently have red and white roses blooming on the 18 inch bushes. Another favorite was the cherry tomatoes that we planted last year. When warm enough; they too were planted outside. This year we have nice sized plants full of tomatoes that were left in the ground and surprised us with their comeback. The gardens have been one of our most treasured purchases that we have made. I bought my Aerogarden about 5 months ago and have been growing the International Basil kit. My results re not perfect, but they are good and the different varieties of Basil are delicious. Like any product, is has its pros & cons. Fewer cons, so I will begin with those; The cord is a bit short and the light is quite bright. (My husband insists it could be seen from space.) Keep it out of bedroom sightlines and it will be fine. The replacement kits are a bit expensive as are the bulbs. Every single plant does not grow equally well. But the PROS far outweigh the cons for me.First and foremost, it is designed for ease of use, and it really is very easy. Seeds are already in the pods and the plant food is in tablets, which means it is pre-measured. Plus, the machine has very noticeable blinking red lights, to remind you when to water & feed. And the plants germinate more quickly that they do in pots.Next, many people complain that the machine is kind of expensive. Well, I have actually shopped around and hydroponics systems really are expensive. And in most cases, the lighting is sold separately. BTW, all of the bulbs for these systems are expensive. So when compared to other systems with lighting, this one is relatively cheap. If you order by phone, from Aeerogrow, they will substitute another seed kit, if you do not want the Gourmet Herb Kit.Finally, it is just plain fun to have delicious herbs at my disposal whenever I want them. They find their way into pasta, omelettes, sandwiches, etc., on a daily basis. And since my house does not get much natural light, this added light is welcome. (Posted over a month ago)

I love this machine. I set it up and was amazed at how quickly it grew. I first did the herbs. Though we didn't get to use them much because we didn't cook as often as we would like during the summer, the herbs always smelled refreshing in our kitchen all summer long. Now we are venturing for the tomatoes. I am actually considering purchasing another one so that I can grow the salad variety :) Very good purchase! (Posted over a month ago)

My fiance bought me an Aerogarden for Christmas last year. It is the best gift by far! I love to garden outdoors, unfortunately, the summer heat and sandy dirt in Myrtle Beach does not allow my garden to produce well. My first kit was herbs, and they produced like crazy! I love cooking, and so I started putting the herbs in everything! I am now growing lettuce, and we are eating salads constantly. I can't wait to try cherry tomatoes, strawberries, other herbs, snow peas. . . I just think it is the best invention, and I use it daily! Not only does it produce well, it also gives great light in the kitchen, and no bugs or critters eat my produce like outdoors! I think it is amazing and just love it! I am hoping that my fiance will buy me another one for Christmas this year, so I can have more than 1 thing growing at a time! (Posted over a month ago)

I got the AeroGarden because I live in Florida and it is too hot and humid to grow many herbs, especially in the summer. In addition, I live in an apartment, so there is not enough space on my patio for all the herbs I want. This gives me the control of light, temperature and water and I know they are clean and pest and pesticide free. One note of caution, though. Be sure to keep watching the water level. Especially once the herbs begin to grow, you must add water every couple of days. (Posted over a month ago)

I bought two at the same time. One for lettuce and one for tomatoes. The veggies are there and convienient to use and they don't spoil in my fridge!! Everyone who comes over wants to find out about how the veggies grow;they peek under the grow surface and check out the root systems. I am a science teacher, so I use the AeroGardens as a teaching opportunity. My AeroGardens are in my kitchen and I don't even bother turning on lights in the kitchen any more because the grow lights provide sufficient illumination. I am a wonderful Computer Tech, but a lousy cook and gardener. I can kill a plant faster than anyone I know. Vegetables??? Forget it. I have never been able to keep anything alive. Until the AeroGrow. What a wonderful product. I started with the salad greens kits and enjoyed the most wonderful salads I have ever had. I was so pleased that I bought a second AeroGrow and started growing tomatoes, they are the sweetest tasting. I ended up buying a third AeroGrow and started growing snow peas. I come home from work and get a bowl and fork and pick a salad, that is growing right in my kitchen, fresh. No Bugs, No Pesticides. I have to admit that I haven't tried to grow the herb kits, but thats because, like I said, I'm a lousy cook and I don't know what to do with them. I just can't blame my AeroGrows for that. This is a fantastic product. It's so nice to have fresh herbs and lettuce, right at my elbow, as I cook. I've found I can stretch the growing season even longer than they suggest and with two I can have all my favorites continuously on hand. The down side; I'm starting to wonder, is three being excessive? The troubleshooting guide on the website, which was very detailed, did not help, so I contacted customer service. I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by a live operator, who immediately rectified the situation to my satisfaction. In addition, the seed kit (also purchased retail) did not sprout properly, and that was expeditiously handled with no questions asked; their guaranteed to grow assurance is accurate. My unit is now in good working order, and is growing batches of lettuce. Any company can suffer a product failure. AeroGrow impressed me with their rapid problem resolution. Since then, I've purchased an AeroGarden Pro 100, and love them both. (Posted over a month ago)

I like the flexibility of being able to design my own plantings and will enjoy being able to keep salad greens in the kitchen throughout the winter once I transplant the herbs. I bought my first AeroGarden in Nov. 2006 for my mother. She was 92, was recovering from a stroke, and couldn't do the things she could before, like read, crossword puzzles, etc. It was grey and dreary out, and she was bored and depressed. I set it up and planted tomatoes. Everyone at assisted living was excited. People started visiting her to see the garden. She loved it. She and her 90-yr.-old sister enjoyed the tomatoes for 2-3 months, eating them one at a time. I bought 3 other Aerogardens, one for my husband (hot peppers -- they're beautiful and prolific), one for my office (people touring our lab came by to see the lettuces) and another at home for herbs. I'm sold on them. I even bought the Master Gardener Kit, to raise my own seeds. I've also substituted other herbs for ones in the herb kit that I didn't care for (the dill and cilantro didn't do very well). I have nothing but praise for customer service; they've come through every time. My mother has the Flower Bouquet kit, now. We'll try roses, next, maybe. (Posted over a month ago)

I'm an experienced gardener, but I love being able to grow things hydroponically and to be able to pick my produce when I want it. It's fast, easy to do and fun! The drawbacks as I see them are that the inside tends to get quite dirty and it's a bit cumbersome, not to mention labor intensive to take the thing apart to clean. My family has used our Aerogarden for growing herbs (usually all different kinds, since we've tried out the various packs). We've found that once the herbs get growing, there's nothing greater to have sitting around the kitchen. Sometimes we can't even use them fast enough! As for down sides...well...it doesn't have a "large" footprint, but if it's on the counter than it can block your view since it can get pretty tall. Which, in my opinion, is a trade-off more than worthwhile to have fresh and fast-growing herbs in the kitchen. Heck, you could even solve that problem by stashing it in a corner since it has its own light....Overall, a very good product to have! (Posted over a month ago)

I saw the AeroGarden as part of a survey that I took. I loved the idea and was so excited when my parents said they bought one. I have a "brown thumb" when it comes to growing things.I was so excited about the machine, that my parents got me and my sister one (the herb garden). Herbs are great but I likes me the vegetables!I got a phone call from a wonderful lady and she offered me one for [$] I chose the "Salsa Garden". I have 4 healthy tomato shoots and 2 very fast growing pepper plants. The other Tomato plant is lagging a bit. My sister is a botanist and says that the slow growing plants make the best vegies so we shall see.If I had to ask for improvements I'd like to see some sort of connection to a computer, tracking actual numbers that sort of thing and please please Mauve lights (those light purple ones). Those white lights are great but them suckers is BRIGHT!I live in a studio apartment and I need to hang up a blanket to block the light. In September I am moving to a larger apartment and my sister is going to give me her (our) birthday AeroGarden so I will have two! One in each corner of the living room. No more troubles with the bright lights.Just one last improvement if I may, add chives to the "Salsa Garden" it needs an onion for most of the recipes so why not add it to the grow? Oh and get to work on that tea garden! If that comes out my sister won't give me her machine but that's okay.I think I will get the [$] one, I'd like to grow some mint and strawberries! I purchased my Aerogarden several years ago so that I could have blooming flowers all the time at work and to provide some much needed spring for our long winters (I live in Alaska). The petunias have been glorious every time and last much longer than anticipated. Over the years people have always been interested in what has been growing in the garden and everything about the garden - many have gone out and bought their own and now they come tell me their stories of success. (A Co-worker across the hall has several.) I have even transplanted my petunias for a glorious basket where everyone asked me at which green house did I purchase it. Not shortly after my first purchase, I bought one for home, especially since good produce is hard to find. I have grown everything from lettuce to tomatoes. Recently, a co-worker bought the herb kit to grow in my garden at work and we all shared in the spoils (love the basil). My next adventure is going to be dwarf sweat peas with my Master Gardner kit. Aerogarden is easy to use, educational, a great morale booster for my windowless office, and has all the rewards of watching the plants grow, and so much more. Now there are so many more types and versions to meet everyones various tastes and needs. Thank you all for giving me such a great gift! (Posted over a month ago)

We got our Classic two years ago, and were so impressed that within two months we had a second one. By having two we are able to grow a variety of lettuce in one, and tomatoes in the other - it's like having a mini salad bar in the kitchen! Now we are in the process of upgrading one to the Deluxe version, adding the extra height that our tomatoes seem to want. If this works out as well as we hope we'll be upgrading the second as well! Our only problem is a lack of space. We'd really like to get a third Deluxe unit to grow herbs at the same time as the salad stuff, but we don't have the space and can't take advantage of the wall rack due to other constraints. However, I'm sure we'll figure out a way to accommodate the third one sooner or later (hopefully sooner!) Besides the joy of having really fresh salad ingredients in the winter (instead of the tasteless lettuce and no-taste tomatoes from the grocery stores), it is a true treat to watch how quickly the new seed pods sprout and grow. Once they get going the change is noticeable even over the short time we are gone to work during the day. You'd not think that it would be observable in that short a time, but it is; it's almost like magic watching this garden grow. We still have our outside garden during the growing season, but even if we have to give that up for some reason we'll still have the opportunity to garden in the kitchen. This is one product that not only lives up to it's advertising claims, but goes several steps beyond. (Posted over a month ago)

I've had mine for about 2 years and have only grown herbs. The International Basil kit is incredible. In fact, this is the first year I haven't bothered to grow basil in the garden. While it's a pain to have to rinse the bowl every 4 weeks, it really seems to make a huge difference in the health of the plants which just keep growing and growing. I love this Garden. Since we moved to smaller property I don't have the luxury of my 1/2 acre garden. This is a fantastic product and it's so low maintenance: add water and nutrients every 2 weeks, that's it. I love having a fresh salad every day. Being able to snip herbs for dinner is a treat. And in winter fresh salad is wonderful. It's very cost effective with prices rising. I like knowing where my food comes from (I shop lots of local farm markets) and I can say my kitchen counter! I definitely plan to get a deluxe one for the winter to grow tomatoes and beans. This really is one of the best indoor gardening products I've ever seen and it's worth the price when you see how it grows and HOW MUCH it grows for you. It's also really fun to watch it grow and looks so pretty in the kitchen. I would recommend this to anyone! Thank you aerogrow. (Posted over a month ago)

My son gave me the Aero Garden for a gift and both he and I were anxious to see how well it did. We are both more than pleased. In fact the herbs are so plentiful that I have been sending extras with him to share at work and even drying that which I can't use fast enough. I want to try the lettuce collection next as I think we will use that daily. Thanks for a gift that just keeps on giving! (Posted over a month ago)

I put my first [a gift] in a dark corner of my kitchen. The grow light acted as a night light that glowed in several rooms. As the plants matured they sluffed off seeds and dried particles. I did not know what was in the dogs water bowel at first. I then realized it was the Herbs going to seed. LOL I just purchased the 3 pack of units. I put 1 on a table near my front door. Saves on using the lamps in the house. My husband is almost blind and he enjoyes the automatic light. I have the timers set so they are lit during the night hours and off during the day. I am not sure where the others will go yet or if I will give 1 as a gift. (Posted over a month ago)

The unit fits quite nicely in a bay window above my kitchen sink. My only difficulty is having to almost climb up on the sink to harvest the herbs growing on the back side, near the light arm, as they are more than an arm's length. The hum is not loud, the timers work well; I do find, of course, that as the plants mature, I have to add water every other day or so to keep it above the fill level. I do want to get another unit, but I will get the independent stand to put it on, as I have no more room in the window. It will also make it easier to harvest from. (Posted over a month ago)

This attractive (black) model fit perfectly into a corner of my kitchen, which has a black/chrome design...it was very easy to setup, and noise free while operating...the light is quite bright and illuminates the kitchen at night (you may or may not appreciate that, but the timer can be set to work on your schedule) The Gourmet herb pack that came with the unit sprouted quickly and produced for 5 months..I'm just now ordering an Italian Herb seed kit. The only problem I had...what to do with the abundant harvest of continually growing herbs...you'll have fun with this practical kitchen addition. Guests commented on how "cool" it looked and the variety of herbs growing in the kitchen. (Posted over a month ago)

I got my first AeroGarden about 2 years ago. At the time, I was living in a condo. I'd considered the idea of growing potted herbs on my deck, but I have what other reviewers have called a "brown thumb". I just can't keep plants alive! Also, I live in New England, so growing herbs outdoors is only feasible a few months out of every year. The AeroGarden is a godsend. It needs almost no care once you've planted your garden. Lights on the display blink to tell you when to add water (once every week or two) or the included nutrients (once every two weeks). The grow lights are on a timer, and it doesn't matter if you have the lights on during the night or during the day. I have the lights come on at night, so it's like having a night light in the kitchen (they're on top of my fridge). Now I've moved into a house where we have plenty of land for an outdoor garden. Well, it's still New England, and I still can't keep plants alive. So I now own THREE AeroGardens! Two are on top of my fridge, and the third is on our enclosed porch where I can use it 3 seasons out of the year. I have the Gourmet Herbs growing in one and the Cherry Tomatoes in another other. The third is at the end of it's harvest, and I'll bure using the Master Gardener kit to plant cilantro and some other herbs. There are a few things about the AeroGarden that could use improvement, but they're easily dealt with... If your pump stops working, but your lights still come on, you probably need to clean the pump. This is not difficult, per se, but it is a bit of a pain...especially if you have full plant growth when the pump stops. If you take the time to clean it pro-actively between plantings, you'll save yourself a lot of trouble. The instructions are on the web site under Support. There's a little magnetic float that determines the water level. Sometimes this gets flooded, so your add water light stays on even when it's full. Fill out the form on the AeroGarden web site and they'll send you a free replacement. It's pretty easy to change, and you can do it even while your garden's growing. (Posted over a month ago)

So far the only casualities have been the herbs we've plucked for our meals. I'm not sure how people agree to the price...I mean these herbs (our first batch) don't exactly shoot up over night, in fact we were patient and had to wait a couple weeks to pick...I think we'd have been able to spend 1/4 as much and bring home potted herbs from the greenhouse, but that's where the Aero design shines...plant maintenance is 0. Well, not exactly 0, you do have to refill the water and nutrients occasionally. So, as I described I'm on the fence. It has delivered as promised, but I think Aero's missing the point by plugging the speed of growth (4 out of 10) and not the maintainability (9 out of 10) of growth as their major strength. I'm new to gardening and this is my first AeroGarden. I've had it up and running for two weeks yesterday and it is behaving according to promises made about it by the company. I'm starting with mesclun mix and all the pods germinated within about two days. Now all the plants look like small whatever they are (mizuna or tatsoi, etc) and new baby leaves are already starting to grow so that I can see how one can harvest regularly and have a steady supply of salad. I guess the only downside, but unavoidable, is that one has to have multiple gardens to grow salad AND herbs AND tomatoes and all those gardens are going to take space. Anyway, I think it is a GREAT product and I'm glad I got it! (Posted over a month ago)

I own four Classic Aerogardens in white, and they are mounted on two of the original, tubular wall gardens (which I have to say were better looking than the current models). In the past year and a half, I have grown all sorts of herbs, peppers, lettuces, strawberries, and tomatoes, and while I love the novelty of the Aerogarden and the fact that they are great conversation starters, I think their actual usefulness is limited. In my opinion, they are best utilized as kitchen herb gardens, though not all the seed packages offered by Aerogrow work as well as others. Basil is clearly the best performer. A single Aerogarden can serve a family of two with an overabundance of fresh herbs all year around. A single Aerogarden of lettuce or tomatoes, however, is inadequate to generate the amount of produce needed to make salads on a regular basis. Generally, I can get one good-sized salad for two people every other week from them. Aerogardens might also be best utilized as seedling starters for outdoor gardens. I transplanted two mature cherry tomato plants from my Aerogardens into my community garden plot this year, and they are thriving! Outside, the plants produce much more than they do inside. Given all this, I'd have to say that Aerogardens are not a good choice if you desire self-sufficiency or sustainability (they do require a lot of energy to operate constantly and do not produce enough in return), but if what you want is a source of entertainment for yourself or education for your children or students, or even something simply ornamental, the Aerogarden is for you! Why buy an aquarium when you can have an Aerogarden? After all, most aquarium owners don't get to eat their fish, but Aerogardeners definitely can eat what grows in their "aeroquariums!" I am guessing I'll have tomatoes very soon and what a thrill that will be. We are unable to grow much outdoors because deer eat anything tasty. Then there is dirt and outdoor insects to deal with. My daughter, purchased the AeroGarden for me as a Mother's Day present. My initial reaction was -- oh my gosh, here is another thing that I have to put together and figure out how to use -- so initially I viewed the AeroGarden as "more work for me to do." After it sat in the box for a few weeks, I took it out and started the process. If the instructions were followed to the letter, assembly was quite easy. It was interesting to hear the water gurgling as the "growth" process began. However, I am still somewhat apprehensive as to how the daily 16 hours of power usage is going to affect my electricity bill, especially in today's energy crisis and our need to invest in alternative energy methods. After killing a couple of tiny red things crawling on the surface during the first week, I have not noticed any other invading insects. As the tiny buds from the six herbs began to appear, the anticipation of a bountiful harvest began to swell within me. It has been six or seven weeks now. The parsley enhanced the flavor to fresh salads and even made Prego Spaghetti sauce taste better. The thyme, chives and dill were added to different recipes and the mint made a nice cup of tea on a Sunday afternoon. The herbs are still growing (especially the parsley) and they are being eagerly snipped and consumed. Maintenance has been low thus far since this is the first time it has been used -- you just add water and nutrients as indicated on the panel. In a nutshell, the AeroGarden was a very nice Mother's Day present and in the words of Mikey -- "I like it!" (Posted over a month ago)

This product is the savior of gardeners that can no longer garden outside for a variety of reasons. I am trying growing tomatoes and green beans in the same Aero Garden; with limited success. I figured that I would try it. I had better luck growing only one crop at a time; however lettuce with no tomatoes doesn't make a lot of sense. Next time, I will go back to the way it is designed to work. Perhaps someone at Aero Garden can develop a multi-crop system. (Posted over a month ago)

I bought my aero garden febuary 17 2008 and I love it. The whole thing was so easy to setup in my small apartment and the herb kit that came with it grew very fast the best thing about the itilian basil and the purple basil is that as it grew and got too large for the aero garden. I cut it back and put it into a clear glass and it rooted and kept growing like crazy. I have a bay window and the basil loves that spot. I have basile plants almost two and a half feet tall and the leaves are very large. I had so many basil plants in clear glasses I starting giving them to my family members and they were so impressed with how the aero garden performs they all want one now. I have unfiltered well water that provides lots of nutrients strait from the ground so this may not work for some people but it was worth every penny i paid for it can't wait to purchase another one. I actually blogged about aerogarden and reviewed it in detail, here is a snipet from when I first rec'vd this............ I took mine out of the box yesterday and started assembling it, it was VERY EASY to put together. The instructions were clear and the assembly time was minimal. I did have one issue and that was the plastic "U" shaped piece on top of the arm must have broken off during shipping. We used super glue and put it back together rather than wait to have this set up (customer service closed on weekend). This seemed to "do the trick" for now but the CLICK noise was missing. The kit came with 7 different herbs Purple Basil Dill Parsley Cilantro Italian Basil Mint Chives I am thrilled to get this and REALLY want to try some other things with it! I am starting with the herbs and then will go from there. Will update with "lighting problem" results and more info as I go along, learning and growing with this NEW WAY to grow stuff indoors! I will use , harvest and dry my herbs as they grow (hopefully) and then go from there! NOW weeks later I can tell you I am thrilled with it! The replacement part is here and is in perfect condition and the herbs are all growing and it is almost time to prune and snip! I am a believer and cannot wait to try some of the other kits! YOU WILL LOVE THIS ! (Posted over a month ago)
